ST. PAUL (September 10, 2010) – The leader of the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) announced today that her organization is formally supporting DFL candidate Mark Dayton in his bid to become Minnesota’s next Governor.

“Mark Dayton has spent time with our nurses and he knows our issues,” said MNA President Linda Hamilton, RN. “From taking the time to support us on the picket lines earlier this summer to sitting down and meeting with our leadership this fall, it’s obvious Mark cares for and respects what the nurses of Minnesota mean to this state. Most important, he stands united with MNA nurses when it comes to issues such as stronger standards for patient safety, medical assistance programs and healthcare reform. Mark Dayton also has a strong record of standing with working families.”

Founded in 1905, the Minnesota Nurses Association has more than 20,000 members across the state. MNA is also a member of National Nurses United (NNU), a national nurses’ union that boasts more than 155,000 members nationwide.
