Range Regional Health Services Negotiations – November 17, 2010 Update

At our negotiation session, we had a number of nurses explain staffing concerns at the hospital and the impact on patient care.  Our nurses talked about the need to staff appropriately at all times and to provide patient care that we can be proud of.  Nurses gave examples of concerns which were previously brought to management’s attention, but not corrected.

After the presentation, we were heartened to see that the hospital is willing to look at establishing a committee where staff nurses have input into staffing.  Unfortunately, the hospital isn’t going far enough, and they still want to gut existing protections in our contract.

We want the hospital to put patients first and we will continue in our role as patient advocates to propose contract language which advances patient safety and patient protection.
